6 - week Parent Support Workshops
An Art based Parent group
As a parent this first thing you want to do is 'fix' your child when they get hurt. We run for the band-aids or we do the 'kiss it and make it better thing'. Tried, true and tested for generations.
But what happens when we can't see what needs to be 'fixed'?
How do make things better when us, nor our young person knows where the hurt is?
It is hard to help your child when you can't see what's wrong.
It's bad enough that your teen could be feeling alone or unequipped for this journey —the same might go for parents or guardians!
This 6-week research-based workshop will allow parents of young people participating in the 12 week depressions group to understand the process that their child is going through while providing a framework for them to better support their young adult . Additionally, You will gain important mindfulness skills to become empowered to take control of your well-being, i with renewed hope and enthusiasm that as a unit each of you will get through this time.
The goal of the group is to encourage parents to engage with art materials, discuss art making and the creative process, and explore the process of their teen.
The framework for this series is specifically designed to initiate much needed conversations about responsibilities as parents and the role parents play in supporting adolescent emotional well-being.
